On Cinco de Mayo, we celebrate all things Mexican – from Frida Kahlo and mariachi bands to tequila and tacos. However, what we love most of all about the Mexican culture is the unbridled use of colour. Rich, vibrant colours saturate their walls, markets, pottery, clothing, food and tables. In keeping with the theme, this year we made certain that our Cinco de Mayo table was a kaleidoscope of colour.
We layered the base of our tablescape with our Wild Child SS20 Collection in bright, complementary colours – coral and turquoise. We then added depth and character by layering with multicoloured raffia placemats, coral and turquoise napkins and tropical green accents in the form of napkin rings and pillar candles. Tall flowers and turquoise candles in varying lengths and shapes brought height, colour and drama to our table.
At Setting Pretty, we love using fresh produce as an efficient and practical way to dress a table. Here, we used limes, pineapples and red chilis to punctuate our tablescape and for mixing up some spicy margaritas afterwards. A feast for the eyes and our palettes… please pass the guacamole!
